The mission of The Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Inc. is to promote and enhance the abilities of the special needs children it serves through the use of individually designed therapy programs on horseback. Riding instructors work with the children’s other therapists to coordinate individually designed programs of physical, learning and recreational therapy.

Increased physical conditioning, balance and coordination, improved self-esteem, enhanced behavior and the ability to face new challenges may all result from participation in The Center’s programs. The therapeutic goal, thus, is to help these children learn a new skill while achieving their highest potential by learning
how to take advantage of their strengths and natural abilities.

Located on a beautiful setting adjacent to the Mount Tom reservation, the facility has recently completed a major restoration of its entire complex.Visitors are welcomed. (413) 532-1462 www.equestriantherapy.org

Established in 1870, the Holyoke Public Library provides free access to informaiton resources for residents of all ages. The Children's Department offers fiction and nonfiction books for a variety of reading levels and an array of active programs for youth. Book clubs, Summer Reading programs, game nights, interactive storytellers and dramatic performances promote reading, encourage healthy social interactions, and bring the literary world to life.

Craft times allow Holyoke's children to explore their artistic sides. It is the goal of the Children's Department to establish and maintain a positive, fun and enriching environment in which children can discover the joys of reading and learning. (413) 322-5640 www.holyokelibrary.org

We run rowing, canoeing and kayaking programs out of Holyoke's Jones Ferry River Access Center. Our new boathouse, one of the best in Western Massachusetts, has three boat stoarge bays, locker room and shower facilities and a beautiful community space with a deck overlooking the river.

We offer programs for everyone - youth, adults, seniors and custom programs for groups, agencies and schools. We recently were designated a US Paralympic Sports club and run adaptive programs for people with disabilities and programs for returning service members and their families. Special emphasis is on getting kids outside and on the water. Whether it is our regional high school team or our summer Boys & Girls Club kayaking program, the goal is the same - to foster leadership, teamwork, self-reliance and success.

Join us Saturdays on the water from 9-11 AM in June and July to try our boats and learn about our programs. (413) 322-5647 www.holyokerows.org
